4 hour course, Introduction to Delft Clay cast-in-place stone setting (sand casting)

Sand casting adds a whole new dimension to the skill and possibilities of the jewellery maker’s studio.
There is an immediate aesthetic that only this process can offer which can include casting stones in place
The course is intended for the experienced jewellery maker but could equally suit any interested beginner.
This is a practical unhurried 4 hour session in which the participant is introduced to the possibilities and techniques used this process. We will use a side pour two part flask of our own manufacture to hold the clay. The extra size of this flask adds to the versatility of the casting process.

 

Materials

The cost of silver is in addition to the course cost. We are happy to supply the silver but we are also happy for participants to bring their own silver along. An average casting will require 25grams of silver.

Three 3mm CZ stones will also be included in the course fee should the participant wish to try casting stones in place

A comprehensive E book is provided to all participants which describes the techniques recommend in the day’s course. There is also a section on casting stones in place which will be covered in the session. If the ebook has already been purchased from our web site, it will be refunded on booking the full course. The ebook will be forwarded to the prospective participant on booking, which will advise on pattern making once a session is booked

Participants are also welcome to bring along a pattern of their own making or choosing.

  • Adding texture to the surface
