Couples Ring Making

Share an unforgettable experience with you and your partner making a ring for yourself or each other and learn some fundamental jewellery making skills along the way! Price covers session time for 2 people and all the wax required to make your designs.

This course gives you and your partner a choice of several ring designs including stone setting options. In the first session you will be guided through making your designs in wax and in the second session you will learn how to finish and polish your metal castings.

Please note this price does not include metal casting costs (dependent on size and weight of designs). Contact us for information on silver casting.

Couples ring making course (5hrs total) – 3hr & 2hr session

• 2 visits (initial wax carving followed by metal finishing of casting)
• Learn fundamental jewellery making skills
• Choose from several design options (stones available for purchase if required)

We will introduce you to the tools, materials and essential techniques of wax jewellery making and metal finishing where you will choose from several designs including textured, etched symbols and abstract shapes and stone set designs.

• An overview of the wax jewellery process
• You will each create a ring from a choice of several designs
• Wax ring resizing
• Wax texturing techniques
• Stone setting, etching, texturing, carving (depending on design choice)
• Instructions on how to get your designs cast
• An overview of ways to finish your metal castings
• Learn how to use tools required to remove the casting sprues
• Learn correct filing and sanding techniques
• Learn various polishing techniques to make your jewellery shine!
• Methods you can use at home with a minimal tool set

What next?

• You can continue with ongoing sessions as and when required to work on skills related to your area of interest.
• You can enrol in the Intensive Wax Jewellery Course covering a wide range of skills tailored to your interest, beginner to advanced including mould making, wax carving, sculpture and various experimental techniques.
• You can enrol in our mould making course and discover the full potential of wax jewellery making by learning how to mass produce your designs, copy, modify & incorporate found objects and existing jewellery pieces into your own designs.

Duration: 5 hours total (3hr wax techniques and 2hr metal finishing)

Availability: This class runs multiple times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays between 8am & 3:30pm.  We offer a wide variety of course options so booking is essential.
