This Price Includes:
Initial consultation via phone or e-mail – we discuss in depth what you are hoping to achieve in terms of skills learned and future jewellery making goals. We will plan your course to your specific requirements meaning your course won’t be like anyone elses, it will be optimized for you. We encourage that you send us pictures or drawings of what you want to work towards making to help us understand your goals. You are welcome to enter this information into our questionnaire which will help us personalize this to you
Wax carving: Covering everything from basic carving skills to highly intricate miniature sculpture. We will cater to your requirements.
Stone setting: Including claw setting, bezel setting and cast in place setting. We start off simple, then progress to more complicated setting methods. We will demonstrate different ways to create the same settings and introduce you to some of our own highly efficient and labour saving techniques.
Creating texture: One of the biggest features of wax jewellery making and we offer more techniques than any other jewellery teaching resource you will find. We have a wide range of tools, some of which we have designed ourselves, and have a spirit of experimentation and discovering new methods which we endeavor to pass onto you
Training in a wide range of jewellery tools and equipment including:
- Wax carving tools
- Soldering iron
- micromotor and various burrs
- Wax injector
- Wax hotplate
- Rework station
- Using solvent with wax
Mould making and wax injection
Without mould making, you aren’t using wax even close to its full potential. Mould an object to reproduce it in wax and modify it, reproduce multiples of your designs, dramatically optimize your workflow and incorporate different materials and objects into your creative process.
Materials: There are so many different wax types all with their own properties and applications. In this course you will be using loads of different materials. Included in the cost of the course are:
Carving/injection Wax: plenty to keep you going through your exercises. If you are specializing in mould making (highly recommended) additional wax can be purchased through weighing injections.
Wax alternatives will be introduced and provided to demonstrate alternate techniques.
Stones: We do encourage you to bring your own but we will provide a small assortment of cz’s, pearl and rough rubies for learning the skills. Extra stones are available if desired
We provide all gloves, eye protection
The only materials not included are silicone rubber and metal for castings
Optional things to bring:
- Extra stones: Feel free to bring your own stones but you are welcome to purchase a basic intro to stone setting set from us. Additional stones are also available if you are keen to specialize in this.
- If mould making is something you are keen to learn and we highly recommend it, bring a container of Pinkysil fast setting silicone rubber. Alternatively you can purchase from us but let us know before hand to ensure we have some in stock for you.
- A note book and camera to document your work! We will be covering a lot so be sure to keep a record of key information, techniques, equipment and materials as well as places to purchase what you will need moving forward.
- Lots of pictures of the things you want to work towards making
What next?
- This course covers a huge range of skills and afterwards you will have the skills required to begin creating your own designs for your own brand. If you need further help with developing skills we are always available for additional tuition.
