SILV05 – Make a bezel set cabochon ring from sheet material and stone

This is a 5 hour session which will suit the setting of a 12×9 cabochon.

The average size ring will require approx. 10 grams of silver which will include .5mm sheet, fine silver bezel wire and 1.5mm diameter sterling silver for the ring shank.

Both the silver and the cabochon are in addition the course fee.

We are happy to supply both the silver and the cabochon of choice at the current market rate. Should you wish us to supply the stone and silver please be in touch. Alternatively please feel free to bring along your own silver and stone.

This is a great introduction into using silver solder with different melting points to fabricate a structure

All tools, qualified tuition and consumables are provided in a fully equipped air conditioned workshop.

The course is conducted in an un hurried supportive happy and friendly environment.

 

1. Learn how to roll out the silver to form the side of the bezel
2. Cut out base to size
3. An introduction to the Smith Mini Oxy/acetylene torch
4. Silver solder
5. Clean up with a file & sand paper
6. Polish the ring you have made
7. Set your stone stone

 

Experience in silver soldering would be an advantage

 

Duration: 5 hours (Additional hours can be purchased if required)

The course includes 10g of silver but more can be purchased if required. Fine silver to form the bezel will also be needed. Please contact us for the current price of silver. A 12x9mm cabochon to the value of $14.00 will be supplied within the fee.

 

Availability: This class runs multiple times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays between 8am & 3:30pm.  We offer a wide variety of course options so booking is essential.
