SILV05 – Make a bezel set cabochon ring from sheet material and stone

This is a 5 hour session which will require one 12x9mm cabochon and up to 10grms of silver which will include .5mm silver sheet and fine silver bezel wire and 1.5mm diameter silver wire for the ring shank. We can supply the silver needed but feel free to bring your own if required. Please contact us for the current price of our silver.

We can supply the 12×9 mm cabochon for the setting but please feel free to bring along your own.

This is a great introduction into using silver solder with different melting points to fabricate a structure

All tools, qualified tuition and consumables are provided in a fully equipped air conditioned workshop.

The course is conducted in an un hurried supportive happy and friendly environment.

It is open for a one to one class or self organized groups at discounted participant prices

 

1. Learn how to roll out the silver to form the side of the bezel
2. Cut out base to size
3. An introduction to the Smith Mini Oxy/acetylene torch
4. Silver solder
5. Clean up with a file & sand paper
6. Polish the ring you have made
7. Set your stone stone

 

Experience in silver soldering would be an advantage

 

Duration: 5 hours

The cost of the silver is in addition to the session fee. Approx 10grams of sheet silver will be required. Fine silver to form the bezel will also be needed. We can supply this at the current price of silver. Please contact us for the current price of silver. A 12x9mm cabochon to the value of $14.00 will be supplied within the fee.

Class sessions must be booked in advance. Sorry there are no refunds but the class can be deferred to an alternative mutually agreed time provided we have at least 12 hours notice
